The Professional Dog Grooming Course is suitable for individuals looking to open their own business. It has been designed for those that would like a career in dog grooming but would prefer the use of in-house assessments instead of undertaking a formal exam. 

We have a flexible approach to our training. Attendance can be from 1 to 5 days a week, as preferred. No prior experience is needed to undertake this course.

During the course, the student will learn to groom a wide range of breeds and coat types.

What’s involved?

The first day will start with a health and safety induction, along with a tour of the facilities. During each day of the course, there will be the opportunity to groom various breeds of dog, from prepping and health checking, to fully styling and finishing.

The course will cover:-

– The correct handling of dogs

– Recognition of health problems and basic first aid

– Brushing, de-matting and bathing

– In-depth clipping, scissoring and hand stripping

– Ear cleaning and nail clipping

– Cleaning and maintaining equipment

– Health and Safety in the Salon

– Customer relation

The course runs for 20 days in total. This includes 18 practical days and 2 theory days.

The business course is designed to offer support and guidance for opening your own salon. This will include recommendations, legislation guidance and the opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.
